On Sunday, December 7, 2025, the Holy Cross community gathered in the parish hall for a Harambee (fundraiser) in support of the New Holy Cross Church Project. This event marked the official launch of the project.
The atmosphere was lively from the moment the doors opened. Families, friends, visitors, and well-wishers filled the hall, ready to take part in a day that blended prayer, music, and collective effort for a mission that belongs to all of us.
The event began with a prayer, setting the tone for a day rooted in gratitude and purpose. Immediately after, the Holy Cross Choir led the hall in angelic Gregorian chants. The beauty of the music created a sense of unity; for many, it was a reminder of why we are building a permanent church worthy of the solemn liturgy celebrated at Holy Cross.
The Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Apat and Mrs. Jecinta, guided the afternoon with clarity and energy. They kept the program flowing, encouraged wide participation, and ensured that every guest felt involved and appreciated. Their stewardship played a major role in maintaining the joyful momentum throughout the event. Several guests of honor also addressed the community, sharing words of encouragement and support for the project. Their presence and generous contributions strengthened the sense of shared mission, and they did an excellent job of inspiring everyone to contribute toward the building of the new church.
The turnout exceeded expectations. Parishioners filled the hall, pledges were honored, and many chose to increase or extend their commitments on the spot. Others who were unable to attend sent in their contributions digitally during the event. By the end of the afternoon, the Harambee had raised 4.3 million Kenyan shillings — approximately USD $33,000. This result reflects the generosity of the Holy Cross faithful and the conviction that this project is long overdue and deeply necessary for the future of the parish. Many who made pledges continue to fulfill them, keeping the spirit of the day alive well beyond the event itself.
The December Harambee was one milestone in a much larger journey. The New Holy Cross Church Project continues in full momentum, and every contribution moves us closer to a permanent home built for reverence, beauty, and future generations of traditional Catholics. To everyone who attended, pledged, volunteered, sang, prayed, or supported the Harambee in any way — thank you. Your generosity has strengthened the foundations of a project that will honor God and the Most Blessed Virgin and serve countless souls for years to come.
